The answer is Hyundai, of course. The South Korean automaker recently announced it would be adding three electrified variants atop a single platform to its 2017 lineup, which will include a hybrid, an EV and a plug-in. The Ioniq is the first in the world to offer three electrified powertrains on one dedicated platform.
Here's what we know so far about the three variants. When it comes to electric range, the Ioniq Electric will offer an estimated range of 110 miles, according to Hyundai. For the Ioniq Plug-In, it will offer an all-electric range of 25. The Ioniq Hybrid is powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery with 1.56 kWh capacity and is projected to deliver up to 58 MPG. According to Hyundai, each variants' powertrain is developed "for high energy efficiency without compromising driving performance, every Ioniq powertrain represents a unique and uncompromising solution towards a cleaner means of mobility."
There's no official word on availability or pricing yet, but as soon as we learn further details we will post them to our blog.
