If you are putting together an emergency roadside kit, then good for you! It's probably the smartest thing you can do to prepare yourself for a bad situation. When you put one together, you should include a few important things. Be sure to pack plenty of bottled water and warm blankets-if you're tight on room there are compact metallic or "space blankets" available. You should also pack a First-Aid kit and a cell phone and charger. Have an ice scraper or snow brush and windshield washer fluid on hand and a foldable shovel. Sand, salt, or cat litter can give you traction on ice and jumper cables should always be in your car. You should also have flares or reflective triangles and a working flashlight and batteries too. And do not forget the tow rope! You may already have a few of these things in your car, so just add on.
